For a clean install, had to make custom ESXi installation CD, due to not recognized ethernet adapter Intel 82579LM. Used VMWare installation iso: VMware-VMvisor-Installer-201501001-2403361.x86_64.iso together with ethernet driver: E1001E.tgz to make a custumized iso with: ESXi-Customizer-v2.7.2.exe

Using this CD, i found out that the host should have more than 4GB memory, so added another 4 for testing. (32GB will be used next week.)
Installation to the 4GB USB stick went without any trouble now!
After installing the new vSphere Client 5.5, faced an error when trying to connect (from XP machine) to the new host:

All good so far!
Next we have to mount Storage, which have to wait a while, as we don’t have the new memory yet for this ESXi server (32GB instead of now testing with 8GB). And we have to fix a drive issue on the NAS. Disk already arrived, but this webserver is running on it, and to nicely replace the drive we have to power down the NAS.
New configuration will be on ESXi internal disk & iSCSI (or NFS) NAS.
